Appleton) 1853 on second title page; copyright 1846; brown blindstamped boards with gilt Bob with pen in hand writing in a book entitled "Voyages of Bob" and the same blindstamped on back, gilt decorations, including Bob, on spine; pale yellow endpapers; 12 handcoloured plates including frontis, all conceived for this story, with fern borders and captions, (these appear to be colored as published although the book is listed at one price only, 50 cents); 4.75x5.25"; 82 pp in large print, plus 14 page catalogue of George S. Appleton's Juvenile Publications, most for small children, including a review of this book.

Hyde's stamp and name with Hartford, Conn. in an adult hand on flyleaf, shadow on half title, also small '02 (?) in same ink; spine ends and back joint very worn, corners somewhat bumped, clean boards; light foxing on ourside pages, paper and especially some plates darkening, otherwise clean and unwrinkled,
