19825 The Child's Black Beauty by Sewell

The Child's Black Beauty: rewritten for children.

Really nice colored illustrations. The cover illustration, repeated within, seems to be from John Beer drawing of a Jorrock's 1894 version, a lovely drawing of a horse, widely used in republications. (I think they have changed the tail!). It is difficult to date these Graham booklet series without owner inscriptions, but this date seems to be the consensus for the Mother Goose series; background on the front is the same as the Childland series, on the back different. Only the beautiful condition of this book makes the date suspect.
