Identifying a Rainbow Set
Kari, to start with, read the answer I wrote below. I don't know much about the ones that were published after the Book House Publishing Company ceased to exist.
My Book House Rainbow 12 volume set.
I've been looking for these books for a long time. My dad bought the set when we were children. He passed it along to me, and I lost them in storage. Do you have another set?
Thanks Lisa

Vera, it is really not a good idea to publish your phone number on a commercial site, so I deleted it. We enable comments so that people can identify and discuss books. You probably missed the home page and came staight to this one, but we are booksellers and we stand behind the condition and edition of everything offered for sale here. Please do not offer books for sale on this site.Thank you.
Rainbow set
Hi Lisa, I don't have another Rainbow set, I'm sorry. It is very unusual to find such an early Rainbow set in such beautiful condition, I don't expect to find another! However, there are other later, and less expensive ones out there. Be sure to ask the seller to describe, in detail, the condition of the first two volumes, and that will give you an idea of the whole set.
The Rainbow editions were published in two time periods by the Book House: the first from 1937 to about 1943 the 20th - 25th editions and then again in the late 40's, the 32nd - 35th editions (remember that in Book House terms "edition" means printing)
After the Book House was sold to The United Educators by Mrs. Miller, the new owners issued a Rainbow Edition from 1956 to 1965. There were no printings listed on these volumes, so volumes with various copyright dates within this period are probably from the same set.
There are a couple of sets on abebooks:

(There are scattered individual volumes on this page as well....remember that there is no such thing as an 8 volume set! The $150 one looks very nice.)
