The Fairy Alphabet by Frances Y. Cory and also F. Y. Cory Fairy Series, 12 card

The Fairy Alphabet Cory

Book: An alphabet painted gradually by Cory (1877- 1972), which was not published until long after her death. This is the second, more colourful, of two recent publications. The Fairy Alphabet, painted during her cartoon period of the late 20's though the mid 50's while she was a Montana rancher with a large happy family, shows at first glance the delicate style of her turn of the century paintings and illustrations. But look more closely at those voluptuous fairies and funny elves! Cory's work has its own stamp: "too brazen" as she said, for St. Nicholas. Thus the small illustrations on the cards appear more traditional than the larger ones of the book, although they are reproductions of identical paintings. So, Cards: Lovely, fairy cards, blank inside, produced by the publishing company of Cory's grandson. Contained in a plastic sleeve with envelopes and an interesting biography.
