Grey cloth boards with gilt text and black and dark grey stylized leaf borders and 4.25x2.3" half tone plate of drawing of worshippers in pew pasted on upper front, gilt top edge, green white-decorated endpapers, green borders on pages, six softly coloured plates, 8vo; jacket has identical colour and design (picture not plate) on off white background with plain flaps; 143 pp. Juvenile hardback.

The Dorcas society renovates their church and provides the setting for a sweet romance between Nancy Wentworth and Justin Peabody. A very pretty book in an early, though not particularly uncommon, jacket.

CONDITION: Very Good in Good Minus jacket; book presents as Near Fine (bumped spine ends) but the front board has been bent back 2" leaving a barely visible fine wrinkle line; jacket with deep chips all around to 1"; 1907 1.50 prices on back. Item #16725
