Very bright pictures in the style of the originals. This "Struwwelpeteriaden" collection of 18 stories has none of the original Hoffmann ten although some of these date from the 1850s. Oddly enough, more stories about rebellious girls are included here than usual, perhaps a good sign, who knows? Jimmy Sliderlegs, Envious Minny, The History of the Dirty Child (a little girl), Cruel Paul , Slovenly Betsy, Phoebe Ann the Proud Girl, Discontented Lucy, Idle Fritz ,Simple Hans, Heedless Hugo , The Night Wanderer. (Oswald), Ned the Toybreaker , Prying Will The Little Glutton (Mary), Tom Bogus The Sweet Tooth, Harry Cobus and the Shang-Hais, The History of Doctor Wango-Tango, The Tragical Story of Mammy Katchem and her Kittens. Glazed boards like these were more common later in the 19th c.
CONDITION: Good Plus: no names or other marks, both hinges are in nice condition and the binding is tight; spine ends are lightly bumped and rubbed, with some soil and a chip to cover paper near the spine on bottom board; two corners softly bumped, edges are largely rubbed through to card; the pages are flat and clean.
