Berlin Frères; the first of two volumes, red cloth spine, ivory boards with a list in small print of the fables in this volume and coloured pictures from the Fox and the Stork, coloured animal cartouche on the back, red stained edges all around, plain endpapers; many elaborate coloured pages and spreads, with the remaining pages in single colour, usually sepia, some black, green or blue; 9.5x12.5; 83 pp. French language hardback tall.

Aesop is a wonderful vehicle for this illustrator's wit. Many elaborate drawings to enjoy.

CONDITION: Very Good; contemporary owner name fixed endpaper, extrems bumped and quite worn through, top board darkening with evenly soiled margin, back nice, slightly shaken: front hinge cracked halfway, back hinge tight; rear flyleaf scuffed on edge; front endpaper has small corner chip; first few pages foxed, remaining pages straight, clean, unwrinkled.
