Good Housekeeping, (1914), 12 booklets each with two poems, cover with picture from first poem in full colour with gold titles and borders, baby holding Cashmere Bouquet talcum and ad for Colgate on back, highlighted in gold; high quality paper for covers, less so for interior pages; inside covers are Colgate toothpaste ads; oblong 5.25x3.5"; 8 pp. each. Softcover. Sets softcover.
Beautiful little booklets with the 12 coloured paintings from the large Jessie Willcox Smith Mother Goose book, which appeared in the same year. Each booklet contains multiple rhymes. These twelve titles were originally issued in a plain cardboard box with a little boxed tube of Colgate's Ribbon Dental cream: we'll include a Christmas 1920 Colgate ad for this set of 12 "books". Apparently this Colgate offer was continued for quite a few years, but the booklets are both fragile and interesting for children which must account for their scarcity. We have also provided an image from our own first printing of the 1914 JWS Mother Goose book for comparison. Good Housekeeping held the copyrights to these images, as you can see.
