The Child's Black Beauty: rewritten for children.

New York: Charles E. Graham & Co., Mother Goose Booklet Series #0901 Newark, NJ: Charles E. Graham & Co., Childland Booklet Series 0903, [191?], paper covered boards with landscape in greens and pinks with framed printed picture of Black Beauty under a tree (not pasted-on); red and black outlined titles, on the back, birds swoop in the sunset above the wrap-around lake; 5 chromolitho illustrations and fairly dense text; 4.5" x 8.5" Small hardback.

Really nice colored illustrations. The cover illustration, repeated within, seems to be from the John Beer drawing of Jarrold's 5th edition, a lovely drawing of a horse, widely used in republications. It is difficult to date these Graham booklet series without owner inscriptions, but this date seems to be the consensus for the Mother Goose series; background on the front is the same as the Childland series, on the back different.

CONDITION: Fair; erased name fep; spine chipped off, loosening, 1" at top detached, crease across bottom board from being bent, pages are flat and clean. Item #21648
