C. and Philadelphia, New York, & Chicago: Wolf & Co.; Dean's Artistic Series #15, [1892 - 1895, Cope], printed in Holland; heavy card chromolithographed wraps SOFTBOUND with full colour picture of two kittens driving a cart pulled by three dogs, a Poodle, a Spaniel (Springer?) and a larger retriever type, with wings tied to their feet; on the back a Little Miss Muffet kitten afraid of a spider; 14 interior pages; 8 5/8" x 11. Mother Goose illustrated with humorous pictures of anthropomorphic animals: elephants dancing round the mulberry bush, Jack and Jill frogs falling downhill, sheep trying to wake up Little Boy Blue dog. All the rhymes are the traditional ones, except "mark it with D/ For Dean's Picture Books are the best that we see." Beautiful printing and illustration by one artist, uncredited as usual for Dean.
