Betsy is a devoted mother to a large family of dolls, but at last, after a chat with St. Nicholas, she receives the most beautiful doll of all, a lovely crowing baby. Lovely lithos of Betsy in her well appointed nursery and garden with the fashions in dress of the well to do carefully depicted. With a poem in 7 chapters by a well known editor of the Dutch children's magazine, der Kinderwereld. Scarce, two listed in libraries in the Netherlands, and a treasure despite its condition.

CONDITION: Good Minus; no names or other marks, center sewn signature reasonably tight, apparently sewn into tape crossing from front to rear pastedowns: signature is badly pulling away from spine with partial tears along tape; spine head and foot very worn, corners moderately worn, toned pages soft and lightly wrinkled from repeated reading, bottom margin tears, not affecting plates but one touching text, light margin soil.
