Quella Povera Vispa Teresa.

Milan: Aldo Garzanti Editore: October 7, 1969, 1st; orange boards, grey endpapers with Teresa and a cat crawling around the margins, in blue jacket with yellow titles and Teresa falling through the clouds; 20x27 cm; 70 pp. Italian language hardback.

Thirty poems inspired by a short 19th c poem by Luigi Sailer, in which a captured butterfly pleads with Vispa Teresa to let him go. Vispa Teresa appears as a children's magazine, in movies, and in earlier volumes. Here, in this modern version, all sorts of objects appeal to Teresa's better nature just as she is about to get into mischief, a refrigerator, a broken elevator, a flying saucer. The book on which she is about to stand to reach her mother's creampuffs complains of being mistreated. Does she not respect science and knowledge? Unusual and amusing.

CONDITION: Very Good Plus in Fine jacket; no names, as new, tight and clean, but for a small spot on half title margin and a (printer's?) tiny ink smear on the Sailer page, a little creaky; original price 1500 L. Item #21969
