Den Uartige Caroline

Kopenhaven, Copenhagen: Gyldendal; 1950/1928; 3rd edition, wraps, PAPERBACK, cloth spine red and pink cover with a little girl and her Scottie peeking though large doors, red botom cover, full pictures, alternately coloured, on each spread; oblong, 11.2x8"; np. German language softcover oblong.

Nice reproductions of these paintings from 1928 in soft greens, grey blues, and pinks and detailed b/w drawings. Caroline and her little Scottish terrier live in the elegant, orderly environment of Lassen's childhood, and do their best to create chaos: Caroline climbs on the banquet table, rides her bicycle into the lake, clips the feathered hat of a dignified visitor. Caroline comes from a distinguished line of mischievous little girls... Sophie and Eloise come to mind.
