The story of a poor child who grew up to become a teacher. a kind, self confident person. She was brought before Justices (witchcraft) for using a barometer to help farmers predict weather, acquitted, and married to the Lord. Republished in many versions, by many publishers. This with, illustrations from late in his career by a political cartoonist who was a contemporary of Thomas Nast. A slightly narrower version of the more elaborate state of the Yellow Dwarf version noted, priced at 8 cents in the 1880/1881 New stock list, but fully listed in the 1882 catalogue at 10 cents.
CONDITION: Good; no names, spine rubbed and split 2" at bottom, chip on bottom corner of clean front cover not affecting design, top corner creases on cover and bumped throughout, long, light crease through illustration, half inch creased tear on back, toned pages clean and flat, chromos bright; 10 cents.
