Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh Playhouse Press. presumed 1st, (Stamped overlay The Coach House Press Chicago and their copyright pasted in facing title); frontis photo of Pittsburgh Press production with Alice confronting most of cast; cover with full coloured picture of Alice, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar by Edgar Roth, 6x9"; 47 pages; alternate script laid in. Toploader medium, softcover.
The author worked in children's theater for many years, and wrote and produced about six children's plays with very imaginative staging. "Alice" captures Carroll's zany tone! This copy is the original version from the Pittsburgh Playhouse Press. It includes eight mimeographed pages of rewritten sections of the play laid in to various parts of the script. These are not necessarily shorter or simpler, so probably not a teacher's rewrites, perhaps a later director or even the author. I do not have a later script for comparison. The Pittsburgh Playhouse (founded in 1933) is a beloved institution which includes the second oldest children's theater in the United States.
CONDITION: Good; light pencil signature by Gil Rodriguez, edges, corners, and spine crease rubbed, darkening paper shows some reading wrinkles. Institutional buyers inquire. Item #22402
