Miss Moppet wallet/fragment.
Comprises the front slotted cover with the complete accordion strip of text and 14 plates of this wallet. Too beautiful and funny to throw away. The first edition of Miss Moppet was published only in two issues in 1906 in miniature wallet form, so this is one of those two original Warne issues. It proved, as we see, too fragile for booksellers to stock and was not reprinted in book form for ten years. Picture Book small.
Sadly for Miss Moppet, the mouse escapes from the duster and dances a jig!
CONDITION: Fragment only: These wallets were constructed so that the inside of the front board and the flap comprised the title page and verso, and there is only the back board remaining here; board is darkened and rubbed all around, cloth on side of former spine is split, one complete split in panorama which might as well be taped, (archival tape included), all margins quite soiled so NOT a "breaker", one text page creased, no writing or marks, panorama all there, pictures in nice shape. Priced in hopes that someone will enjoy and take care of it! Item #22535
