Baby's Book.

New York: Greenberg Publisher, issued by New Library, Inc. 1943, 1st and presumed only edition; one contiuous board covered in cream pebbled paper is creased to receive white plastic ring binding, full coloured endpapers of stork and baby arriving in the world, fairly thick pages illustrated on one side, in full colours, primarily pastel blue, coral, pale yellow and green; 6.5x10". about 32 sheets, in white pebbled paper box. Novelty Boxed Book.

A funny, loving baby book, conceived as a narrative told in the first person, to be completed when the blanks and picture spaces were filled in. "For some time I had been creeping all over the place. I began to feel an urge to stand up. By holding on to a chair, I was able to stand and balance myself nicely. I did this on. ...." The book follows the child's history to about five; we think of a veteran's family sitting down to catch up after the war. Gift condition.

Tony Sarg was born in Guatemala to German and English parents in 1882 and died in New York in 1942 . He avoided a military career to work in advertising in London (the Lyons lion), moved to magazines, studied puppetry, and, when the war broke out, moved to the United States where he established the Tony Sarg Company and created marionette shows greatly popular in the twenties. His picture books with comical characters, his animated films, and his famous Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons for Macy's made him a well known figure.
