Momotaro Japanese Fairy Tale Series No. 1.
Tokyo: "Y. Nishinomiya (late T. Hasegawa)"; probably 1937 or 38, crepe paper book with red silk ties ,double stab silk binding and grey silk spine backing, on bottom cover a flock of little paper birds surrounding a larger paper bird, nine interior folded leaves, making 18 pp of story, most with coloured illustrations, on the last page, a list of series titles "on application to T. Hasegawa." Toploader small.
A reprint of the first story in the Japanese Fairy Tale Series, The Story of Little Peachling, the little boy born to an old man and woman from a peach stone, who conquered the island devils, and with his dog and monkey companions, to whom he attributed all his success, returned home to honor and riches.
CONDITION: Very Good Plus, as new, no names, very bright and clean, bottom cover and last page have vertical crease. Item #22683
