Runzel-Punzel, a story of Two Little Mice.

Chicago: Albert Whitman & Company, probably 1st US, not JLG, 1933 on title page, Printed in Germany; blue cloth boards with full pasted on green plate with Aunty Twinkle-Toes and Runzel-Punzel ready to go out the door of their sod house to the town; dark green endpapers, 8x9.7"; np. Picture Book Hardback.

A town mouse and country mouse variation, illustrated by Ritter in both German (Alexei Remison) and English versions. Between the one-eyed Zwick Zwack and Aunty Twinkle-Toes crying over her card game, this book frightened me when I was a child, even though the deep colours were fascinating.

CONDITION: Very Good Plus, no names or other marks, pages bright and crisp, small spot on margin of a few, binding tight and unmarred, clean bright paste-on plate shows a little light soil and just a few scratches visible when the book is held to light, a bit of wear to extrems, margins of endpapers faded.
