Philadelphia: David McKay Company, Washington Square; (late 20's? text and illustrations from an Altemus version co 1907 but probably published later, (Sternick 52); glazed pictorial boards with red cloth spine; plain endpapers, 6x8.7" Picture Book hardback.
The simplified drawings copied from Potter's paintings for Altemus have been recopied for this version, including the rabbit pie scene, here even less scary. But it's the new cover illustration that makes this book, a truly loopy Peter dancing through the cabbages with a fat carrot in this mouth and a turnip high overhead.
CONDITION: Very Good without jacket; no names or other marks, tight, pages and boards both very clean, including cream back, rubs to card to corners and some rubbing to white on edges. Item #19575
