Very witty pictures, with insight into the character of the heroes and their mounts, probably created in ink and watercolour, with deep colours. This relatively unknown New Mexico painter and printmaker illustrated a few classic children's classics for Houghton Mifflin and Grosset & Dunlap, including Pinoccchio and Gulliver's Travels. He also collected major turn of the century and early 20th century children's illustrators. (The Herman Ilfeld Bacharach Collection, New Mexico State Library).
