Akron, Ohio: The Saalfield Publishing Company, (1939) #846; 1938 book the only on back flap; pictorial boards showing large owl and pussycat dancing by the light of the moon, with red cloth spine, 10 full page coloured illustrations by Madsen and numerous inked drawings by Peat in text; in jacket identical to boards; 10x12. Picture Book Hardback.

A collection of fairy tales, well known and less familiar, from many lands. Also poetry, in two columns for bedtime reading. Lovely in its jacket. Label on rear endpaper from Lazarus Department Store (based in Columbus Ohio and eventually merged with Macy's) tag 1.00. This is probably a first printing of this edition, but it is impossible to tell.

CONDITION: Very Good in Very Good jacket; EDWIN has neatly stamped his name on fep, clean tight and straight, with rubbing to card and bumps to extremities, beautiful colour on boards which have been protected by jacket; in jacket with edgewear to 1/4", 3/4" chip from bottom spine, 1" chip from top, 2" tear, rubbed creases; original price 1.00.
