Each spread in this book is illustrated with this Dutch artist's ingenious and expressive torn tissue collages running across the gutter; every other spread is in colour, and the bright, translucent turquoises, greens, oranges, pinks, and purples with the shading formed by the overlay, draw the viewer into the drama of this old story.

CONDITION: Near Fine in Good Plus jacket; no names or other marks, straight, tight, clean with sharp corners, 2 small attractive woodblock owner stamps and tiny initials, in clean, crisp jacket with no chips or tears but very unpleasantly foxed on the back and on front flap crease thus grade, unclipped [18s], 90p.
