/C. M. Burd, (Clara Miller), illustrator.

Favorite Nursery Rhymes.

New York: Knapp Co. Inc; circa 1926, stapled paper advertising booklet, SOFTCOVER, on the cover, a boy reads to a very proper little girl in a green hat and muff, both seated on a window seat at Christmas, on the back, an ad for Puritan flour ; 4.6x3"; 14 pp. Toploader small softcover advertizing.

This charming little booklet repeats most of the pages from Josephine Lawrence's Kiddies Nursery Rhymes (Cupples and Leon 1926), in lovely colours and carefully printed for one of these little books with the grey and white illustrated borders of the Kiddies books. Interesting how many illustrators used advertising books as an additional source of income. Some copies of these purchased by different companies have a story by Clara Burd's sister but this addresses the child readers, urging them to get a big slice of bread and jam made with Puritan flour! "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall; but he lit on a a loaf of Puritan bread; 'I'm not hurt a bit - It's so light," he said.
