Nursery Rhymes for Children (Chloe Preston)

Kenosha, Wis: Samuel Lowe Company (1942), L-510; yellow textured paper "Linen Finish", cover with little girl pushing her doll carriage, 7.25x11", 10 interior pp. Toploader large softcover.

Very cute illustrations of little people going about their day with colourful and elaborate borders and pastel pages. These 12 illustrations are taken from the 18 Quaint Little Folk Series of greeting cards which Chloe Preston created for Raphael Tuck in 1926 and 1927. Imitation nursery rhymes have been made up for each picture, probably by the publishing house; on most pages a short traditional rhyme appears as well. Unfortunately, Preston never published her own Mother Goose, although she contributed to the 1931 Nelson.

CONDITION: Very Good; no names or other marks, front cover faded with even light soil, a little margin soil on back, half inch closed tear, spine OK, interior pages unwrinkled, clean, and bright. Item #21854
