Willie, Rose, and Kate.

London: Dean & Son, 160a Fleet Street E. C., Dean's Little Gem Chromo Books, (ca.1880's); 3x4.5. Toploader little softcover advertizing.

A pretty little chapbook with characters dressed in the styles of the early 19c, but with late 19th c child rearing practices (and simplified mob-caps)! When Lucy comes back very late after supper after a day playing in the fields, "You promised me, dear child, that you would not be long, And yet you stayed quite late/ You know 'twas very wrong." These little books were sold in packets to be used as school reward books and little children's hospital presents and this title was also #7 of the Halfpenny Reward Books packet.

CONDITION: Good; no names or marks, unwrinkled, very clean and bright full colours; the register of the fine printing is quite accurate but this copy has been sewn carelessly, with the cover glued on and about half the spine split, thus grade. Hard to find. Item #21919
