Little Snowdrop.

New York, London, Paris: Raphael Tuck & Sons, Father Tuck's Play & Pleasure Series No. 1575, 1898?/[1896] later printing; "Untearable Linen", "Designed at the Studios in England", easel artistic series trademark, card/linen covers, with full painting on top of Snowdrop bringing soup to adoring little men, 8 interior pages with 4 chromolithographs and brown line drawings on all other pages, 10 story pages including versos of covers; 6.5x8.5" Toploader medium softcover story.

Very cute goblin-like little men take good care of their Little Snowdrop. This version was republished several times by Tuck. The Baldwin Library gives the original London illustrators as Mabel F. and Edith Taylor, EPH gives the illustrator of the New York No. 1731 as Frances Brundage. The lines in both are the same although it could have been recoloured. It does have a Brundage look but we'll settle for the Baldwin!

CONDITION: Good; neat contemporary name, Emma Newell, clear taped spine, causing creases, although there had been no splitting, bottom corner creased, moisture spot visible on verso, pale blue back toned, some offsetting of chromo ink inside. Item #22156
