Nelson & Sons; early 1870's, 1st; ivory glazed paper with elaborate gilt floral borders and title, gilt picture of Lily and her doll; on the back cover an extensive list of Nelson titles to 1870, not including this book, four full colour, full page chromolithographs on heavier paper opposite these poems: "Dog Shaggie", "Golden Hair", "Dollie", "Sister Nell"; 8.25 x 10.25. Toploader large softcover.

A lovely album with portraits of the same little girl and poems to fit (not stock lithos). Also, an extremely cute West Highland Terrier with floppy ears, sitting up for his cookie "Not yet Shaggie! Wait a wee; Stand quite still and look at me, Till I call out - ONE TWO THREE": Probably from the Nelson New Series Sixpenny Picture Books for 1870 "With Elegant Gold Covers" as listed on the back.

CONDITION: Good Minus; no names or other marks, spine split about half, long crease in upper corner, rough edges on front, 1" margin tear on back (the cover paper is more fragile than the interior paper) interior pages a bit toned but very clean and flat with beautiful colours. Item #22194
