Our Picture Book.
[Sunshine Publishing Company], first compiled for T. Kingsford & Son in 1881/ this version about 1887 (based on lithograph dates) to 1895; paper cover with red line border and steel lithograph border design and small landscape, various black & white litho illustrations (not the more elaborate version) ; 7.5x9.5"; 16 interior pages. Toploader large softcover advertizing.
A later printing of this advertising book, containing the letter from T. Kingsford and Son of Oswego, NY, and the stereotypical cartoon of a little boy balanced on Kingsford Oswego Corn Starch boxes. Also Longfellow's The Children's Hour as a center spread and other assorted stories and poems from the publisher's files. Pictures on every page. Oddly, the front cover "Compliments of" space is not filled in, so perhaps this was a sample for the business. Kingsford perfected an improved method of extracting cornstarch, and at one time sold their products world wide. An interesting bit of advertizing material.
CONDITION Very Good Plus; no names or other marks, very clean with sharp corners and no creases but a little rumpled in the margins from handling. A nice example. Item #22199
