One of 16 beautiful books, the Biblioteca de Chapulín series, published by the Mexican Secretary of Public Education from 1942 to 1945, and bringing stories from world literature, older and modern. The artwork resembles silkscreen, flat brown baby and large animals against suggestions of jungle greenery, all shaded with black on the large, thick white pages. The Spanish artist (Madrid 1882 - Ciudad de Mexico 1950) was an early innovative comic illustrator, known by children for his Pinocho creation. (Mowgli=frog=ranita).

CONDITION: Very Good; nice special collection bookplate, some library marks; (Droste Collection at Eugene Oregon), very clean, 3" split in spine, edges of cover slightly bumped, very clean and bright inside. Item #22205
