Large, dramatic, illustrations, yellow, white, and red, on dark green backgrounds, tell the epic of a dying king, four brave princes and four brave princesses, an enchanted ship, a wild storm, a pirate who turns out to be a wise king and the freckled princess who conquers him. Quite a tale! Beautifully illustrated, with the cover of this second edition perhaps the closest to mood of the tale. Several books, puppet shows, and children's plays (teachers like the ones with at least 12 characters!) have been created from this story.
CONDITION: Very Good; no names or other marks, some rubs to extremities, especially spine foot, toned/foxed edges to 1/2 inch on cover; inside, light intermittent margin reading wrinkles, very clean and bright. Item #22210
