Joanjo, eine Geschichte aus Portugal.

Basel, Pharos Verlag, (1965); deep pink board, red titles, with all around painting of red sun and a fleet of beached fishing boats with a little boy and his dog in one; oblong, 12 x 9.75"; np. German language hardback oblong.

Joanjo daydreams of rising above his fisherfolk family to be rich and own a store, but his nightmare shows that it might not work out so well, and he happily rejoins his family in a festive parade. Balet clusters groups of fisherman and women together, dressed in their traditional Portuguese plaids and prints, against bright blue, white, and black backgrounds. A charming little dog follows through the story, in dreams and real life.
