/Molly Brett, Illustrator.

Mother Goose.

Kenosha, Wisconsin, James & Jonathan Company (1948); red linenette with large illustration of children in a henhouse, two counting eggs and one trying to distract My Fat Hen;. Toploader large softcover.

Each page has a main picture of the rhyme featuring children and a semicircle of little pictures which comment on the action, all in colour: Jill binding up Jack's Head, the baby falling out of the cradle, unharmed, Curley Locks dishpan piling up with unwashed dishes. Molly Brett is best known for her later books about of little "dressed animals" for The Medici Society, but these little children too are graceful and natural.
