New York: Cupples & Leon Company; (1926), tan basletweave box with six Burd children looking at the title through telescopes. Novelty boxed books.
A popular read aloud boxed series which was issued with varied selections from the Kiddie Wonder Books inside. In this box, The illustrations of Clara Miller Burd (1873-1933), a stained glass artist and children's books and magazine cover illustrator, appear in Mother Goose, Frolics, and Country. These are contemporary children, and the illustrations are jewel like on this scale. (the same as those used in her advertizing pamphlets, but different from the "old-fashioned" ones in her large Mother Goose). The Holland Kiddies, illustrated by M. Greiner who is less well known, are rather odd but bright and appealing.
