Edith and Mr. Bear find an abandoned nest in the woods and hatch and raise a duckling. Edith asks Mr. Bear a little child's questions about raising a wild creature. "I didn't think he'd leave us. We're his mother," said Edith. "I don't want to watch him fly away." Darling spring pictures of a felt Lenci doll come alive, here dressed for work in her outdoor clothes.. The last of Dare Wright's Lonely Doll books and our favorite.
