New York: Capitol Publishing Company Inc, 139 Fifth Avenue, 1949, Capitol Puppet Books; shaped glossy primary coloured puppet theater book with cut out stage; this opens to inner yellow curtained stage to which is attached a small pulp paper pamphlet of about 22 unnumbered pages; between this stage and the back of the book is a space containing a goose and a Mother Goose on 75" sticks (figures showing on stage about 3" high); 825x95" Novelty shape book.
Mother Goose in her black hat and the goose in a flurry on heavy card sticks which can be moved around from belowiand appear in the puppet theater stage cut-out The elastic strings which were designed to secure the card strips on the puppets to the book are missing, making the mechanism awkward as the puppets tend to slip down Includes a little play script booklet "backstage" of a simple plot to which Mother Goose adds many rhymes This, in addition to Cowboy Jim and Punch and Judy were produced by Capitol Puppet Books and probably not republished In lovely condition though incomplete, and scarce, one copy on WorldCat.
CONDITION; Good due to missing elements of the mechanism; otherwise very nice, no names, tiny rubs to foot and goose wing tip, slight price tag bubble can be felt, not seen; the little booklet in unused fine condition. Item #22720
