London: Dean's Rag Book Co Ltd, produced during 1916 - 1920 (Cope), "1st edition", so to speak Fine glazed muslin that feels like linen, 456cm x 1016cm or 16" x 40", 3 rows x 8 images each = 24 animal panels, each with large and small letter and name, (a few doubled) multi coloured, bordered by brown twig design with orange flowers and leaves at intersection. Toploader fabric.

The original horizontal alphabet wall hanging, not a book. Designed by Edith Berkeley for Dean's in art nouveau nursery style with realistic animals, the same animals were reissued in a simpler portrait version a few years later. Very scarce. Ask us for the animals.

Edith Berkley and her husband were instrumental in early Dean's cloth books and specialized in animals.. A splendid baby gift, that if hung out of direct sunlight will be treasured and passed down From the collection of the Millers who acquired Dean's archives in 1988. Depicted in Cope p144 - 145.

CONDITION: Fine, bright, absolutely clean, no evidence of ever having been displayed, has been gently folded in tissue I have not attempted to use more than a warm flat iron on the back, but this should mount nicely Lovely material. Item #22721
