An interesting list of books by now both classic and forgotten, organized by age from 2 to 14; the previous edition had been meant for schools and was organized by grade. Includes the author's own reviews, selections from other reviews and from the books themselves so 2 to 3 books per page, Introduction by Thomas Wentworth Higginson, author, abolitionist, and Colonel in charge of first Black reginement in the Civil War. On the endpapers the sticker and signature stamp of his relative Admiral Francis J. Higginson (1843 to 1941), who had a long and distinguished career and retired to Kingston, New York.
