"This epilogue to Peter Pan was written by J.M. Barrie in response to the many request that he received to tell what happened to Wendy when she grew up. It was only once acted, at the close of the performance of Peter Pan at Duke of York's Theatre, London, on 22 February 1908, and has never before been published. After the performance Barrie gave the MS to Miss Hilda Trevelyan, his 'incomparable Wendy'. Mr. Sydney Blow, actor and playwright, and husband of Miss Trevelyan, has presented the text of the epilogue and written in a Foreword his own recollections of Sir James Barrie, of the first performances of the production of An Afterthought." A copy of the book Barrie gave to Hilda Trevelyan "an incomparable Wendy" with a reproduction of his inscription. In the afterthought, Peter arrives to take Wendy away for Spring Cleaning and finds her grown with her innocence and ability to fly gone, Her littledaughter Jane can fly and, with her mother's good wishes, goes instead. Wendy hopes that Jane's daughter, and her daughter, will continue, whenever Peter remembers to ask.
