Delicate plates by Albert Edward Jackson (1873-1952) an illustrator from the Golden Age of Illustration. An larger abridged version wih plain endpapers, and fewer plates, for younger children.
Inscribed to "Elizabeth Bancker Gribbel from Nanny, 1917", Elizabeth Gribbel (b. March 26, 2010) was the youngest daughter of the Scottish American philanthropist, industrialist, and bibliophile, John Gribbel.

CONDITION: Fair, 1917 inscription, spine ends chipped about 1/4", boards have faded to brown with gilt dull, corners rubbed through, nice top board plate with two thin scratches, foxing on endpapers, outside pages, and some plate edges, two margin tears, offsetting from plates, still very tight, and straight with otherwise clean flat pages.
